Midwife - Kenepuru Birthing Unit

Location:  Kenepuru Birthing Unit, Kenepuru Community Hospital

Contract:  Permanent, part time and full time 0.4 -1 FTE Rostered and Rotating

About the Team/Service Location

Based at Kenepuru/ Porirua Birthing Unit. We are a small dynamic, and friendly team that values collaboration and continuity. 

This role gives you a chance to work closely with women, whānau, and LMC colleagues in a supportive setting. You will be working in partnership with LMCs, providing postnatal care and labour and birth support. Coordinating with colleagues at Wellington Hospital to ensure seamless care across the services. There is opportunity to expand your midwifery scope, including antenatal assessments, organising and managing Anti-D and antenatal vaccination clinics.

Our unit includes:

• Two beautiful birthing rooms, including a low-stimulus space with a birthing couch and a dedicated birthing pool room.
• Six postnatal rooms with ensuites – two with double beds to support whānau staying together.
  

About you 

The ideal candidate can identify with the following:

•    A flexible, organised midwife who thrives in a dynamic and evolving environment. 
•    Ability to support LMCs with antenatal assessments and labour and birth care. 
•    Previous experience in these areas is desirable. 
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 
•    Demonstrated clinical competence, sound judgement, and confidence to respond calmly and effectively to emergency situations. 
•    Ability to adapt to the diverse needs of the Birthing Unit. 
•    A passion for making a positive difference within the community.
