About the Role 

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team as a Nurse Educator (fixed term for 12 months). You would be working in a strong leadership team with other Nurse Educators, Associate Charge Nurse Managers, and the Charge Nurse Manager, which offers the chance for professional and personal development. 

The Nurse Educator will be an expert in educational delivery, facilitation of education by specialists and assessing the educational needs of the nursing team. This role is critical in ensuring and maintaining essential nursing standards and leading the implementation of nursing education, change and skill development in a multi-specialty ward. 

You will be responsible for providing leadership in the clinical environment and to bring about practice improvements.

You will provide ongoing support for the nursing team with their PDRP progression and help the nursing team to maintain essential core nursing skills and develop area related specialty skills.

About the Team/Service Location 

Ward 6 South is a busy cardiac unit that provides tertiary cardiac services for the central NZ region.  The nursing team cares for patients across both cardiology and cardiothoracic specialties.  You will be supported by a committed and focused nursing management team incorporating a Charge Nurse Manager, Associate Charge Nurse Managers, and Clinical Nurse Educators.

About you 

  • You will be an action oriented person who pushes towards the delivery of the highest quality care for the patient/client/whanau and someone who is proactive in advocating for professional and organisational initiatives. 
  • You will have previous experience in a clinical coach or mentor ship role or adult education, and have a proven team ethic.
  • You will have significant nursing experience and knowledge, including clinical knowledge of cardiac nursing. 
  • You will demonstrate evidence of post-graduate study and be at least proficient on the PDRP.  You also need to be registered with the Nursing Council of NZ as a Registered Nurse, and have a Bachelor of Nursing (or relevant qualification).
