Nurse Educator – Supported First Year of Practice Programme (NE- SFYP) RN
Location: Capital Coast and Hutt Valley District. Role work across the district.
Contract: Permanent, Part Time 0.8 FTE – Monday to Friday business hours.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Nurse Educator to join our Workforce and Practice Development Unit in a senior designated leadership role that makes a real difference. This position supports the Supported First Year of Practice (SFYP) graduates and plays a critical role in educating and developing confident, competent and safe graduate nurses.
We are seeking a dynamic, innovative educator who brings fresh ideas, strong clinical insight, and a commitment to excellence in nursing education. You will provide leadership in curriculum design, delivery, assessment, and evaluation of education that enhances the capability and professional growth of graduate registered nurses during their first year of practice.

Key responsibilities
You will
- Lead the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of education for SFYP nurses.
- Deliver engaging, evidence-based learning experiences.
- Assess and evaluate graduate nurse progress to ensure safe, competent practice.
- Collaborate with clinical teams and stakeholders to support workforce development.
- Provide educational leadership and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Be part of a forward-thinking team committed to excellence in
nursing practice.
About the Team/Service Location
The Workforce and Practice Development Unit (W&PDU) support the District Chief Nursing Officer, and Nurse Directors across the District. Organisational goals and priorities direct the W&PDU’s work streams and are aligned with HNZ ǀ Te Whatu Ora strategic direction within the CC&HV district, the Central Region, and nationally. This is a highly motivated team that works closely to support each other.
About you
The position would suit a highly motivated, organised and action-oriented person who is passionate about education and the development of graduates in their first year of practice. You will have the capability to facilitate structured orientation programmes, deliver a contemporary curriculum, and actively support graduate learning throughout their first year of practice.
