Nurse Educator - Workforce & Practice Development Unit


Location: Based at Wellington Regional Hospital required to also work across, Lower Hutt and Kenepuru Hospital and MHAIDS service

Contract: Permanent, Full time – Monday to Friday business hours

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Educator role in the Workforce and Practice Development Unit.

With your fresh ideas and innovative approach, you are invited to apply for a role that provides a leadership opportunity in a senior designated position. This is a full-time, permanent position for a registered nurse. The Nurse Educator is responsible for co-ordinating all aspects of the pre-registration Clinical Learning Environment (pre-registration nursing student placements), delivering preceptorship education, and supporting the on-going education and development of the health care assistant (HCA) workforce. 

About the Team/Service Location

The Workforce and Practice Development Unit (W&PDU) supports the District Chief Nurse and Nurse Directors across the District. This support enables the alignment of the W&PDU’s professional, operational and strategic leadership accountabilities, within allocated resources to reflect national, regional and District priorities. This is a highly motivated and supportive team that leads a culture of education and professional development to enhance the workforce capability to provide high quality and safe services.

About you

The position would suit a self-motivated, organised person who is passionate about education and development of the pre-registration nursing (student) and health care assistant (HCA) workforce. The preferred candidate will have the ability to deliver preceptorship education, co-ordinate clinical learning experience placements for pre-registration nursing students and support professional development of HCAs. The ability to develop effective relationships with nurse leaders and educators in the clinical settings and strong partnerships with tutors and academic staff from Tertiary Education Providers is vital. Experience in Microsoft Excel and database management would be valuable.
