Occupational Health Registered Nurse


Location: Primarily based at Wellington Regional Hospital, sites including Kenepuru, Kapiti and Hutt Hospital

Contract: 3x 1.0 FTE - Fixed Term for 6 months

About the Role 

The Occupational Health role is to ensure the health and wellbeing of health workers by preventing work-related ill health and injury. We do this by promoting a health workplace. Occupational health involves keeping people safe, healthy and well at work by implementing health and safety policies, designing safe workplaces, monitoring health, and providing support for workers with health conditions. 

This position is Monday to Friday.

About the Team/Service/Location 

Occupational Health is a nationally led service and delivered locally. We have service employee health needs from 4 sites, Capital & Coast, Hutt Valley, Kenepuru, Kapiti and Wairarapa by way of clinic services on a rotation plan. This role is to be based in Capital Coast health and will be required to attend services at each of the above sites when required.  We are a small but tight knit team who need to rely on each other to carry out the varied tasks on varied sites, no 2 days are the same and, excellence is important to us as we pride ourselves on leading the way in respect to Occupational health. 

This role is primarily based at Wellington Regional Hospital and to work from Kenepuru, Kapiti and Hutt Hospital, when required.

About you 

We are seeking a competent, self-driven registered nurse to work as part of our team who is computer literate, a problem solver, shows initiative and is adaptable to an ever-changing environment. At this stage the role is for 6 months as a Fixed Term/Secondment however there is a possibility of it becoming permanent as we work through a current change process.  We are seeking the following key skills: 

  • Registered practitioner with current APC
  • Registered Vaccinator 
  • Good decision maker, able to work independently and within a team, so definite team player who is able to take direction 
  • Understanding of the Health & Safety at Work Act 2016
  • Computer literate & evident Problem Solver 
  • Clear Communicator both orally and in writing – able to ensure their direction is clear and understood
  • Presentation skills, able to speak to sometimes large groups on relevant health promotion
