Occupational Therapy Support Worker – Tane Mahuta


Location: Intensive Rehabilitation Regional Rehabilitation Service- Tane Mahuta, Porirua

Contract: Permanent, Part Time (0.8 FTE), Monday - Friday

About the Role

Te Korowai Whāriki is part of the Mental Health Addiction and Intellectual Disability Service, 3 DHB. The Regional Rehabilitation units provide consumers with specialised care with a focus on recovery and rehabilitation in both secure and open settings. We are looking for an innovative and committed Support Worker to join the inpatient team at Tane Mahuta. The successful applicant will be energetic, have the ability to give positive encouragement to clients, be flexible with tasks, have energy and be able to work under the direction and delegation of OTs. We are looking for someone to be able to support people with mental health issues to create a daily routine and establish activities on the campus and within the community. Will be asked to assist with facilitating groups targeting specific goals, carry out individual sessions based on a plan, and will encourage and motivate clients to engage and participate.

About the Team/Service Location

Tane Mahuta has a supportive team culture that works hard to work collaboratively as an MDT in order to deliver best care within an inpatient setting. The immediate OT team is made up of 2 Occupational Therapist and 3 Occupational Therapy Support Workers (OTSW). This team is welcoming and accepting of new ideas.

About you

•  Practice in a manner that service users determine as being culturally safe.

•  Be respectful and able to collaborate in practice.

•  Use good communication- written, verbal and electronic skills.

•  Ability to work under direction and delegation.

•  Full drivers licence.

•  Experience in MH forensic rehabilitation.

•  Level 3 NZQA National Certificate in Community Health Support Services (or equivalent qualification).
