Operations Manager, Acute Mental Health Inpatient After Hours, District and Hospital Services

Contract: Permanent Full Time (1 FTE)

About the Role
MHAIDS is undertaking a change in the way we deliver mental health and addiction services across the district. We are looking for people who are innovative and passionate about leading people and have a strong grounding in mental health and addiction services in the New Zealand context.
As part of this change, we are looking for an Operations Manager, Acute Mental Health Inpatient After Hours, District and Hospital Services The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a changing environment, believes in integrated care, local community development and can demonstrate experience in working closely with tāngata whaiora and whanau to deliver person-directed specialised mental health and addiction services.
You will be able to demonstrate a commitment to equity and improving outcomes for people that focuses on the vision of care closer to home. You will enjoy achieving and driving for results and working for a service that has a sharp vision and purpose. Supporting staff and working closely with internal and external stakeholders will be a key part of your work, alongside the day to day running of your services while managing any issues and risks that may arise. You will be supported by a dedicated management team and will be working with like-minded people who are passionate about delivering quality person centred care.
The salary band for this role is $144,336 - $162,500 depending on experience.

The Local Adult Specialist Mental Health and Addiction Service is implementing a vision, principles and future model of care that is integrated, culturally responsive, equitable across the district and aligned with national and local directions. This position is responsible for the operational management of acute inpatient mental health hospital and clinical hospital based services across the Local Adult Specialist Mental Health and Addiction Service. These services include:
- Te Whare o Matairangi
- Te Whare Ahuru
- Health of Older Persons (Te Whare Ra Uta)
- Consultation Liaison (Capital and Coast and Hutt Valley)
The Operations Manager, Acute Mental Health Inpatient After Hours, District and Hospital Services, in partnership with other Operations Managers, is responsible for calmly and astutely leading their services through change and improvement while maintaining day-to-day service operations. This includes championing our vision, values and model of care for Specialist Mental Health and Addiction Service and developing a committed and passionate team.
About you
You will have:
- Relevant tertiary level business qualification or equivalent in health leadership.
- A clinical qualification.
- Professional registration and current APC.
- Committed to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori whānau.
- Held a senior role of this nature in the health sector, preferably in the mental health and addiction sector.
- Extensive knowledge and perspective of Mental Health, Addiction and/or Intellectual Disability service delivery.
- Operated within a complex environment, including meeting the needs of multiple services at the same time.
- Experience of managing a business/operation effectively.
- Have knowledge of health service data and analytics, and able to use this to predict capacity and demand and flex to manage this.
- Have knowledge of the Care Capacity Demand Management Programme.
