Outpatients Administrator - Day Ward

About the Role 

We are looking for an Outpatients Administrators to provide reception services across to our Day Ward Acute Admissions Unit (AAU) in Wellington Hospital.  You will work closely with the clinical team to ensure service needs are met. Your main responsibilities will include admitting patients to the unit, discharging patients, requesting medical records, answering phones and taking messages.

The salary range for this position is $75,201-83,092.

About the Team/Service Location 

The Patient Administration Service (PAS) works across the District to support a patient's journey from referral through to discharge. PAS is comprised of several difference services who each have a dedicated Team Leader:

  • Outpatient Booking Centre, Call Centre and Atrium
  • Clinical Typing & Team Support
  • Ward Administration & Elective booking
  • Outpatient Reception and Administration Support
  • Emergency Department and Radiology

This role is part of the Outpatient Reception and Administration Support team who cover various departments within the District. This role will be supporting clinical staff at the Day Ward AAU which is part of the Blood and Cancer Department. We facilitate a supportive and collaborative workplace culture, with a commitment to your ongoing professional development. You will be working closely with other administration staff, Senior Medical Officers (SMOs) and the clinical nursing team to ensure the service needs are met.

About you 

Skills and experience we are looking for:

  • At least 3 years administration experience
  • Previous experience in a front-line administration role
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to maintain patient and office confidentiality in line with the Privacy Act
  • Works well under pressure and can multitask in a fast-paced environment
