Outpatients Administrator

Contract: Casual up to 16 hours per week

About the Role 

We are looking for an Outpatients Administrator to assist with covering weekend and after hours shifts at the Ophthalmology Department in Wellington Hospitals Outpatients.  Your main responsibilities will include greeting patients arriving at the clinic, rebooking appointments, managing the phones and liaising with Nursing Staff.

This is a very busy role supporting our clinical team in the Ophthalmology Department on an as required basis. The salary range for this position is $72,035 - $79,573 pro-rated.

About the Team/Service Location 

The Patient Administration Service (PAS) works across the District to support a patient's journey from referral through to discharge. PAS is comprised of several difference services who each have a dedicated Team Leader:

  • Outpatient Booking Centre, Call Centre and Atrium
  • Clinical Typing & Team Support
  • Ward Administration & Elective booking
  • Outpatient Reception and Administration Support
  • Emergency Department and Radiology

This role is part of the Outpatient Reception and Administration Support team who cover various departments within the District. This role will be supporting eye specialists and the clinical nursing team within the Ophthalmology Department. We facilitate a supportive and collaborative workplace culture, with a commitment to your ongoing professional development. You will be working closely with both clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure the service needs are met.

About you 

Skills and experience we are looking for:

  • At least 3 years administration experience
  • Previous experience in a front-line administration role
  • Confidence to work collaboratively and autonomously
  • Ability to maintain patient and office confidentiality in line with the Privacy Act
  • Works well under pressure and can multitask in a fast-paced environment
