Pain Medicine Fellow (fixed term)

About the role
This is a two year fixed term position for a qualified Senior Medical Officer to undertake vocational training towards an ANZCA qualified Pain Medicine Specialist.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to complete the required clinical hours for this training within a highly experienced multi-disciplinary team of a regional tertiary service.
About the Team/Service/ Location
You will be working alongside an enthusiastic and cohesive team of medical specialists, clinical psychologists, occupational therapist, physiotherapists and nurses. The interdisciplinary team meets regularly and provides individual and group programmes in-person as well as online. You will provide medical assessments as the sole practitioner as well as being part of an interdisciplinary assessment panel.
You will have opportunities to provide ultrasound and fluoroscopy guided interventions. As this is a training position, supervision by Pain Medicine Specialists is provided for all aspects of the role. The service’s current research focus is on developing support for opioid tapering and online resources to address access, equity and challenges to offer best practice pain management to the geographically large region.
Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley district is located centrally in Wellington and has over 6,000 full-time equivalent staff, making us one of the major employers in the Wellington region. We operate three hospitals – Wellington Regional Hospital in Newtown, Hutt Valley Hospital and Kenepuru Hospital in Porirua – as well as the Kāpiti Health Centre at Paraparaumu.
About you
- Vocationally registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
- Able to register for vocational registration with the FANCZA
- FANZCA or equivalent qualification and be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
- Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team
- Able to provide consistently high standards of medical care
- Enthusiastic about supporting patients with chronic conditions
- Relevant experience and training
