Applications are sought for PGY4+ Resident Medical Officers (RMO) interested in joining our Surgical Services team. You will have a keen interest in Surgery as a long-term career and ideally come with previous experience in a Surgical Registrar position.

Our Surgical Registrars cover duties at Capital & Coast District Health Board, Hutt Valley District Health Board and Wairarapa District Health Board. You will initially be allocated to Wellington Regional Hospital until December 2017 in an ENT/Urology Relief run, with runs for 2018 decided by the service. 

Applications are invited for positions, with allocations decided by the Appointments and Allocations Committee, taking any stated preferences in your cover letter into account. 

From December 2017, run allocations are available in Plastic Surgery, Cardiothoracic, Vascular and General Surgery.

WELLINGTON HOSPITAL

Provides secondary and tertiary surgical services across two of its three hospitals. It serves a local population of 296,000 and provides tertiary surgical services to a regional population of over 1 million. 

Wellington Regional Hospital is a tertiary hospital with modern facilities including a Surgical Assessment and Planning Unit (SAPU) and offers exciting opportunities and top level training. Kenepuru Community Hospital provides predominantly secondary services catering to the communities north of Wellington, including Porirua and Kapiti. 

HUTT VALLEY HOSPITAL

Hutt Hospital provides specialist regional services in plastic and maxillofacial surgery. The Hospital employs approximately 1500 staff and currently has around 270 beds with plans to increase this further. The surgical allocation is split between 27 general surgical and gynaecology beds, 22 orthopaedic and 27 plastic surgery beds.

Of these provided referees, we ask that you provide one who is either a Head of Department or Supervisor of Training and should be from your current or most recent employer.
