- PGY1 Dental House Officer
- Fixed-term position for 12 months
- Commencing 11 January 2027 to 16 January 2028
- Based at Wellington Hospital and Kenepuru Hospitals
- The Dental and Oral Health Service provides dental care for many patients over two sites (Wellington and Kenepuru Hospitals). We are responsible for the dental care of patients who are unable to access care privately, patients who require admission for their dental care, patients who have suffered acute trauma, and patients who require essential dental treatment as part of their medical or surgical treatment. We also operate a relief-of-pain service for low-income individuals who are in pain.
- This role includes a one-in-four on-call component. This is to respond to acute oral and maxillofacial cases where you will be assessing, as required, urgent cases of extra-oral swelling, uncontrolled oral bleeding and jaw fractures with the support of the on-call oral and maxillofacial surgeon.
- RMO salaries are calculated based on relevant previous years of experience and the average weekly hours of work as set out in the relevant run description. For the current salary bands, please refer to either the Specialty Trainees of New Zealand (STONZ) or Resident Doctors’ Association (RDA) Single-Employer Collective Agreements.

While working with us you will have the opportunity to experience the different patient mix at both Wellington and Kenepuru. Within the team, senior dentists work at both sites and are available to provide support. You will also have the opportunity to work with our visiting oral surgeons, Mr Manish Patel and Mr Brendan Young, and with our oral medicine specialist, Dr Pip Greer.

Suitable for Dental Officers who will have graduated and be commencing PGY1 by the role commencement date.
You must have eligibility for general registration with the Dental Council of New Zealand.
