Pharmacist – Medication Safety/Smart Pumps
Location: Hutt Hospital and Wellington Regional Hospital
Contract: Fixed Term (22 September 2025 – 18 September 2026), Full Time

About the Role
Salary: $111,240 - $117,420
We are looking for an experienced clinical pharmacist to join our hospital as the Medication Safety and Dose Error Reduction Systems Pharmacist. This is a fixed-term position of up to one year to cover parental leave. Whilst the position is full-time, we may consider part-time work for the right candidate.
The primary roles of the Medication Safety and Dose Error Reduction Systems Pharmacist will be to improve the quality and safety of medications management at a district- and organization-wide level, and be responsible for developing, writing, and maintaining the Smart Pump drug libraries across the district. The role would be expected to provide high-quality, effective clinical pharmacy services with a focus on improving patient outcomes and ensuring optimal medicines utilisation whilst minimizing risk.
The role will work collaboratively with the existing Smart Pumps Pharmaicst at Capital & Coast and the existing Medication Safety/Smart Pumps Pharmacist at Hutt Valley.
About the Team/Service Location
The pharmacy team is well respected by clinicians, nursing staff, and senior management across the organisation, and is constantly looking at ways to improve the service and care it delivers. We provide a comprehensive pharmacy service throughout to the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley District, which includes a clinical service, dispensary & logistics service, and a quality & risk service. There is also an aseptic production service at Capital & Coast Hospitals (Wellington & Kenepuru). Through these services, we aim to improve the quality and effectiveness of prescribing, supply and distribution of medicines throughout the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley District. Our teams value professional growth, and emphasizes clinical development and medicines optimization for our patients.
About you

If you are highly self-motivated, enjoy working with other health professionals, and can demonstrate effective teamwork and communication, then this role could be for you. Candidates must have a current New Zealand APC in good standing, and at least three years of clinical experience in a hospital setting.
