Physiotherapist – Experienced Clinician (ICU/HDU)

Contract: Permanent, Full time (plus on call and weekend additional)

About the Role 

This role is based primarily in the ICU and HDU. 

The position is part of our inpatient physiotherapy team at Wellington Regional Hospital, treating patients across all specialities in the hospital. The role sits within our neuro/med/onc/ortho mini-team, consisting of advanced, experienced and rotational physiotherapists. Cover will be required across the hospital as service need indicates. 

This role also includes on call and weekend working commitments, covering Wellington Regional Hospital – adult and paediatric patients. 

About the Team/Service Location 

The Wellington Physiotherapy Team work predominantly in the inpatient setting at Wellington Regional Hospital. Our friendly, enthusiastic team includes coordinators, expert, advanced, experienced and rotational physiotherapists.

This role will also work closely with the medical, nursing and allied health teams across the hospital. 

About you 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced physiotherapist with drive and a passion for patients in our Critical Care Unit. 

  • Minimum of 3 years post graduate experience, broad experience in acute specialities and specialising knowledge in the acute assessment and treatment space. 
  • Clinical skills across a broad range of specialities, with specialist skills in acute respiratory and high/critical dependency care including neurosurgical, acute medical, surgical and trauma. 
  • New Zealand Registered Physiotherapist with Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • Able to share specialty clinical knowledge to physiotherapy, allied, nursing and medical teams
  • Team player, able to work collaboratively across physiotherapy and the multidisciplinary team 
  • On call and weekend competencies and experience essential
  • Working knowledge of quality improvement, a desire to contribute to the team, and a commitment to the best possible patient outcomes.
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
