Physiotherapist (Paediatric)
Location: Wellington Regional Hospital
Contract: Permanent, Full Time

About the Role
Salary: Allied Health, Scientific and Technical Collective Agreement, Step 4 to Step 8 ($94,394 - $110,210), dependant on experience.
This role is primarily based in Te Wao Nui, our new purpose built child health service for tamariki, rangatahi and whānau of Central New Zealand. Physiotherapists and allied health team members based at Te Wao Nui work in a range of clinical areas.
Our paediatric team consists of an expert neurodevelopmental physiotherapist, three experienced clinicians and a rotational therapist. This team cover a range of clinical areas, working closely with tamariki and their whānau. Within the in-patient environment they work on the paediatric wards, NICU and with children receiving care in ICU. In out-patients, the physios support tamariki and their whānau with musculoskeletal, developmental and respiratory issues. This role will focus on inpatient care and our respiratory outpatient service.
The paediatric allied health team are focussed on improving and optimising the journey of tamariki and their whānau. Current projects that they are working on include working alongside orthopaedic surgeons in clinic, planned care pathways, rehabilitation after cancer treatment, developing lung ultrasound skills and NICU developmental pathways.
This role also includes working on the on call and weekend roster covering all clinical areas of Wellington Regional Hospital.
About the Team/Service Location
The Wellington Physiotherapy Inpatient Team work predominantly in the acute setting at Wellington Regional Hospital. Our friendly, enthusiastic team includes coordinators, expert, advanced, experienced and rotational physiotherapists. Our team of physiotherapists work closely with patients and their whānau, surgeons, specialist nurses, allied health colleagues, and external agencies.

This role works alongside our other experinced clinicians, leading the service in your area of clinical expertise and interest. Our experienced clinicans work together to support our rotational staff and students, to grow and develop our workforce.
About you
We are looking for an enthusiastic experienced physiotherapist with drive and a passion for acute paediatrics. Working with a diverse group of patients with significant health needs, you’ll demonstrate excellent clinical and communication skills and have a flexible, problem solving approach. We work closely as a team across the inpatient service (adult and paediatric), so inter-professional and inter-specialism skills are key.
The role works with other paediatric therapists and we are looking to build a team with a broad range of skills and flexibility across the clinical spectrum.
- Minimum of 4 years post graduate experience
- Broad base of experience across paediatric specialities, respiratory essential, and deeper experience and skills in your specialist area.
- Excellent clinical and communication skills
- Flexible, problem solving approach
- New Zealand Registered Physiotherapist with Annual Practicing Certificate
- Able to share specific clinical knowledge to physiotherapy, allied, nursing and medical teams
- Team player, able to work collaboratively across physiotherapy and the multidisciplinary team
- On call and weekend competence (adult and paediatric) essential
- Working knowledge of quality improvement, a desire to contribute to the team, and a commitment to the best possible patient outcomes
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
