Prevocational Education Supervisor


Location:  Wellington Hospital, Kenepuru Hopsital, Hutt Hospital & Wairarapa Hospital

Service:    RMO Unit

Contract:  Permanent, part time - 4 hours p/w. 

Salary:      As per ASMS SECA

About the role

The role will oversee the training and supervision of prevocational interns based at Wellington, Hutt and Masterton District Hospitals. These interns are primarily New Zealand Registration Examination (NZREX Clinical) Primary Care Prevocational Pathway (PCPP) interns. You will be responsible for reporting their progress on e-port which is a portal of the Medical Council.

You will be supported by, the Director of Training and the Chief Medical Officer. This is an opportunity to make a difference in the ongoing education of our interns. You will have a portfolio of approximately 10 interns to work with.  

About our team

The RMO Unit facilitates linkages between and provides support for all those involved in RMO management functions within CCHV and across the sub regional districts to ensure consistency of management practices, provision of employment agreement compliance, and administration of employment issues relating to RMOs. It also undertakes sourcing and selection of RMO’s for the sub regional districts.

The Prevocational Educational Supervisor (PES) works across the organisation supported by the RMO unit, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), and the Director of Clinical Training.  At any given time there are between 50-60 PGY1 and PGY2 interns employed at CCHV.

You will join a team of 7 other Prevocational Education Supervisors (PES).

About you

  • Vocationally registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
  • Familiar with the day-to-day work of Interns who are deployed in wards and services throughout the district
  • Have knowledge of the basic skills expected of Interns, and an understanding of the new MCNZ prevocational curriculum and training expectations
  • Must be approachable and interested in education, having an ability to work with supervising specialists.
