Location: Porirua – Ratonga o Rua Porirua Hospital Campus

Contract: Permanent, Part Time 0.93 FTE Rostered and Rotating (4 days on 2 days off) or Full Time 1.0 FTE Rostered and Rotating (5 days on 2 days off)

About the Role

We are looking for enthusiastic, innovative and committed registered nurses with a passion and desire to work in the specialised area of Forensic Mental Health Services.

We aim to facilitate assessment, treatment and recovery by employing a holistic array of interventions to support people. 

We are guided by relational security aspects of care to promote safety and protection for all. We are underpinned by Te Tiriti o Waitangi and place emphasis on Te Whare Tapa Wha; Fonofale

We offer an MDT approach to specialised assessment and care for adults who are admitted through the courts or prisons. 

We work within a framework of clinical governance and are a progressive service committed to providing a culture of ongoing professional development for staff through regular supervision, an excellent professional development and recognition programme (PDRP), regular in-service training and support towards external training. The salary for this role is Nursing MECA Steps 1-7 ($75773-$106739) depending on experience. 

About the Team/Service/ Location

We are a team of 60+ nurses and mental health support workers who work within a multi-disciplinary team supporting recovery and rehabilitation for people admitted into our service.

Purehurehu is a regional medium secure adult forensic unit with 19 male beds, operating as a 24hour service at Ratonga Rua o Porirua Hospital Campus. 

About you

You will have a genuine interest in forensic mental health nursing with a readiness and eagerness to be an active member of our team. We are looking for innovative and motivated Registered Nurses’ who have a can-do attitude and excellent time management skills.

You will possess

  • Registration with the NCNZ as an RN.
  • A current practising certificate (APC).
  • Successful completion of the NESP (Nurse Entry to Specialised Practice) 
  • Active involvement and progression along the PDRP.
  • Full NZDL preferred.
