About the Role
Are you an experienced midwife looking for greater work-life balance while continuing to provide exceptional care for women and whānau?
We are seeking dedicated Midwives (2.0 FTE total) to join our Elective Caesarean Service team. These roles combine the provision of high-quality clinical care with coordination and administrative responsibilities that support the smooth running of our elective caesarean section list. The salary is MECA registered midwives step 2-7
Working closely with women, whānau, obstetric, anaesthetic, theatre, LMCs and the maternity team, you will play a key role in ensuring a seamless and positive experience from pre-admission through to birth and postnatal handover. You will:
- Provide dedicated clinical care for women undergoing elective caesarean birth.
- Coordinate and support elective caesarean lists.
- Undertake administrative tasks that contribute to efficient service delivery.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, woman-centred care.
- Contribute to service development and ongoing quality improvement.
Hours of Work
- Monday to Friday.
- Hours may vary between 0700 and 1930 depending on service requirements.
- No rostered night duty.
About the Team/Service/Location
Wellington Hospital Maternity Unit is a purpose-built, busy service that caters to the needs of women and their whānau. The unit includes 12 fully equipped, self-contained labour and birthing rooms, an onsite operative theatre, and a 26-bed antenatal and postnatal ward. Our multidisciplinary team consists of midwives, obstetric staff, anaesthetists, healthcare assistants, administration officers, and cleaners who work collaboratively to deliver high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.
This role is primarily based within the Main Operating Theatre complex, including the Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU), Main Theatres, and Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU). The successful applicant will work closely with multidisciplinary teams across these areas and will also provide support within the maternity unit as required, responding to changes in patient acuity, service demand, and workflow.
