Registered Midwife


Location:   Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley District

Contract:   Permanent full-time and part time positions available (FTE from 0.6-1)

Salary:      As per MECA/ Meras  step 3-7 depending on experience - pro rata for part time

About the role

Midwifery is a dynamic and challenging career. Across the district we have hospital-based vacancies in a range of settings - primary, secondary and tertiary care. There are opportunities for part-time/ fulltime positions including new graduate, core roles, community midwifery and for those midwives wishing to return to practice.

Surrounded by our beautiful Pacific Ocean, our city is a breeze to walk around, and public transport is quick and affordable. Capital, Coast and Hutt valley district are looking to recruit dedicated and compassionate midwives who would like to gain experience across a wide range of maternity services including a centralised primary, secondary, tertiary facility, dedicated primary care facilities and community settings. 

About the Team/Service/ Location 

You will be surrounded by a supportive Midwifery team here at our modern tertiary based hospital at Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley District. We can offer great opportunities to enhance your skills within our dynamic team.

All our multidisciplinary teams are welcoming, inclusive and take pride in the care of women and whānau. We provide excellent support for new and existing staff through robust orientation with our midwifery educators and dedicated clinical coaches. We work closely across the district and with our LMC colleagues.

Essential:

  • New Zealand Registered Midwife
  • Current New Zealand Registration and Annual Practicing Certificate with NZ Midwifery Council
  • Evidence of effective, competent midwifery practice or, for recent midwifery graduates, evidence of enrolment in the Midwifery First Year of Practice Programme
  • Ability to work effectively within a busy environment with competing demands

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated understanding of maternity care delivery in New Zealand
