Registered Nurse - Children's Ward - Wellington Hospital
Location: Wellington Regional Hospital - children’s ward, Te Wao Nui
Contract: Multiple positions are available, including permanent part-time roles at 0.8 FTE and 0.9 FTE, as well as a 6-month fixed-term part-time position at 0.9 FTE to cover parental leave. All roles are rostered and rotating, including weekdays, weekends, and night shifts.

About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our children’s ward. The role offers an exciting opportunity to expand your paediatric nursing expertise and clinical skills while providing exceptional care to children of all ages.
As a successful candidate, you will have proven experience working with paediatric patients, demonstrating the ability to work both as part of a team and independently. You will manage your own workload, adapting quickly to changing demands and delivering professional and compassionate family-centred care. The salary range for this MECA RN Step 2-7 or $81,683 - $106,739 pro rata for part time.
Multiple positions are available:
0.8 FTE (64 hours per fortnight)
0.9 FTE (72 hours per fortnight)
0.9 FTE (72 hours per fortnight)
6-month contract to cover parental leave
All positions involve 8-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and night shifts.

About the Team/Service/ Location
The Child Health Service for the Wellington Region and Central New Zealand is a tertiary center providing specialised medical and surgical care for children up to 16 years old. It offers a mix of inpatient, outpatient, day patient, and domiciliary services. Within Te Wao Nui, the inpatient wards Piko and Kowhai provide dedicated care for hospitalised children.
Piko Ward (medical) has 23 inpatient beds and a 9-bed Short Stay Unit (SSU), caters for children requiring short-term care and observation.
Kōwhai Ward (Surgical) has 17 inpatient beds and a 12-bed Children’s Day Stay (CDS), which caters for children requiring short-term care post day procedures and surgery.
