About the Role
As a Registered Nurse in Te Pae Tiaki | Emergency Department at Wellington Regional Hospital, you’ll step into a role that is anything but routine. This is a fast-paced, high-turnover environment where your clinical skills and critical thinking are constantly called upon.
You’ll be part of a Level 6 Emergency Service that provides acute and emergent care to both adult and paediatric patients across a wide range of specialities—including General Medicine, Surgery, Orthopaedics, and more.

About the Team/Service/ Location
Te Pae Tiaki | Emergency Department is a mixed adult-paediatric department (20% children) with around 65,000 annual presentations and an admission rate of 40%; it is also the regional tertiary and trauma centre and is supported in-house by most specialties. We have a 16-bed ED Observation Unit, a fully functional Minor Care Zone (Rohe Kākāriki) and a separate paediatric zone (Wahi Tamariki).
About you
You are an experienced, confident, and resilient Registered Nurse who brings a strong foundation in acute and critical care nursing. With at least two years of experience in a Level 6 │ tertiary Emergency Department, or a minimum of three years in a critical care setting (such as Medical-Surgical HDU or ICU), you are ready to take on the fast pace and complexity of emergency care with clarity and confidence.
