About the Role 

The registered nurse position at Te Whare o Matairangi is a fast-paced, exciting role in a busy ward environment. No two days are ever the same, and the opportunities to really make a difference are endless. We have a welcoming and supportive team and can support multiple professional development options. A typical day here will involve a caseload of 3-5, working with each whaiora to reduce distress, assist recovery and promote autonomy. You will use your flexibility and critical thinking skills to rapidly adjust to changing situations and work collaboratively in care planning and providing nursing care. The salary range for this role is $75,773 - $106,739 depending on experience.

About the Team/Service/ Location 

MHAIDS is the mental health, addiction and intellectual disability service for the Wairarapa District and Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley District, with multiple specialist facilities. Te Whare o Matairangi is a 30 bed acute inpatient Mental Health Recovery unit providing at Wellington Regional Hospital, providing care for tangata whaiora experiencing significant mental health issues. We have a diverse team of approximately 100 people across Nursing, Allied Health, medical staff and support workers. 

About you 

The ideal candidate will have

  • Completed the Nursing Entry to Specialist Practice (NESP) programme or equivalent. 
  • Be on or working towards Proficient or Expert PDRP. 
  • Have a passion for mental health nursing and providing care to whaiora in acute distress. 
  • Dedication to best practice, quality improvement within services, and demonstrate professionalism, integrity and collaboration in healthcare.
