Registered Nurse - Health of the Older Person Service


Location: Kenepuru Hospital, Ward 5 Health of the older person

Contract: Fixed term, Part Time 0.8 FTE Rostered and Rotating

About the Role 

An exciting opportunity for a Registered nurse has arisen to join our team for 6 months fixed term, on a part time basis.  You’ll be working on rostered and rotating shifts, within a dynamic and friendly multi-disciplinary team.  Health of the Older Person Services provides inpatient assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services for people aged 65 years and over or aged 55 years and over for Maori / Pacific.

The focus of health of the Older Person Services is to meet the needs of the older adults (kaumātua), who may have struggled to cope at home due to multiple factors or have become deconditioned from health disorders that have affected their independence and functional ability. We work to restore the functional ability of our kaumātua by working closely with them and their family/support network (whānau), alongside our multidisciplinary team, which includes a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, social worker and dietitian.

About the Team/Service Location 

Health of the Older Person service is provided on the Kenepuru campus and is currently configured with 24 beds in Wards 4 and 5.

About you 

  • Be an active member of the nursing team 
  • Role model professional, educational and preceptorship behaviours.
  • Passionate about Gerontology and vulnerable patient groups
  • Strong communication skills
  • Current APC and registered with NCNZ
  • Desirable  2-3 year experience in Medical and Gerontology
