Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is dedicated to serving all New Zealanders. Through integration and collaboration, we’re building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whānau-centred care, and excellence.

About the Role

Outpatients is a dynamic, fast-paced ambulatory care setting spanning Wellington Regional Hospital and Kenepuru Community Hospital. Our clinics are patient- and whānau-focused, supporting patients from their First Specialist Appointment (FSA) through to follow-ups, procedures, and long-term care coordination.

This is a great opportunity for a registered nurse who thrives in a changing environment, values collaboration, and is committed to delivering excellent, culturally safe care.

You’ll be coordinating clinics, supporting minor procedures, providing advanced wound care, and working closely with SMOs, NPs, RMOs, and admin teams to ensure continuity of care across both acute and long-term management.

About you

  • Deliver safe, effective, evidence-based nursing care that is person- and whānau-centred and culturally appropriate.
  • At least 5 years’ experience as a nurse, ideally experience in vascular, surgical, ophthalmology or ENT specialities.
  • Provide and coordinate advanced wound care, including assessment, treatment planning, and ongoing management.
  • Assist with biopsies and minor procedures, maintaining strict aseptic technique.
  • Ensure continuity of care across the outpatient journey, supporting coordinated and timely patient management.
  • Maintain high standards of patient safety, quality improvement, and advocacy in all aspects of practice.
  • Demonstrate strong core nursing competencies, including communication, administration, problem-solving, and safe management of aseptic technique.
  • Coordinate and manage specialist outpatient clinics to a high standard.
  • Build effective professional relationships with nursing, medical, and administrative teams to support efficient clinic flow.
  • Respond flexibly to service demands and contribute to District and nursing goals, promoting Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley as a centre of excellence.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, including PDRP and post-graduate study, supported by a committed nursing team.

About the Team/Service Location
