Registered Nurse - Medical Day Ward
Location: Kenepuru Hospital
Contract: Fixed Term Part time - Monday to Friday 0.65 FTE

About the role
An exciting opportunity for a registered nurse has arisen to join our team in a fixed term - part time role. You be working Monday to Friday within a dynamic and friendly team. The Medical day unit is currently in consultation to increase in operating hours from 0730 – 1930hrs. You will be responsible for delivering a wide range of intravenous therapy including blood products, Chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Skills sought are previous experience with peripheral cannulation, central lines. The medical day ward caters for a variety of clients referred from a wide range of departments within Wellington Hospital and the community. Wellington Hospital has completed building works to create a purpose built space for the Kenepuru Medical Day Ward (KMDW).
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Medical day ward at Kenepuru Hospital is an important part of Wellington Hospitals secondary, as well as tertiary service delivery model for the sub-regional populations it serves. KMDW is particularly important for gastroenterology, neurology, immunology, pre-surgical infusions, blood and cancer treatments and suitable ambulatory infusions. The Medical day ward has a strong focus on teamwork and a commitment to excellent standards of nursing care.
About you
We are looking for the following:
- Be an active team member
- Delivering IV therapy
- IV Cannulation / Central venous lines
- Professional, responsible for own work
- Strong communication skills
- Positive, enthusiastic, flexible manner
- Leadership experience preferable
- Completed CAP/NETP Programme
- New Zealand Nursing registration
Desirable
- 5 years and more nursing experience in chemotherapy, blood product transfusion, and infusions
- Experience in administration of chemotherapy, EVIQ competent or training
- Experience in cannulation and central vascular access device (CVAD)
