Registered Nurse – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit


Location: Wellington Hospital

Service:   Neonatal Intensive Care Unit 

Contract: 

  • 2 Fixed Term Positions: Start date – October 2025 - 0.9 FTE up to May 2026 and 1.0 FTE up to February 2026. These 2 fixed term positions are Parental Leave Cover.
  • 2 Permanent Positions: Start date – October 2025 - 1.0FTE and 0.9 FTE

About the role

We are looking for flexible, dynamic and motivated Registered Nurses who have either neonatal experience or a desire to commence a career in neonates.

Neonates is an equity and family focused team with an emphasis on excellence, evidence based practice and research.

About the Team/Service Location 

NICU provides level three Neonatal Intensive Care Services for the central region of New Zealand including a 24-hour Infant Retrieval Service. Level two Neonatal Services are provided for the Wellington Metropolitan and Kapiti / Porirua areas. A neonatal Homecare Service provides transition nursing support for infants in the Capital & Coast catchment area. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) also has responsibility for provision of a telephone consultation service to the region and provides education and consultation to level two referral units. 

About you

Duties

  • Provide competent care for neonatal infants and their families
  • Demonstrate safe professional nursing practice
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and team work

Skills & Experience

  • NZ Registration
  • APC
  • Current work visa
  • Experience in Neonatal or child health is advantageous
  • At least 1 years’ nursing experience
  • Excellent communication skills
