Registered Nurse - Regional Heart & Lung Unit

Location: Wellington Regional Hospital

Contract: Permanent Part Time 0.8 FTE, Fixed term 0.8 FTE (December 2025 - August 2026), and casual hours. All rostered and rotating.

About the Role 

The Registered Nurse role would appeal to those who are motivated, self-directed and driven to deliver consistently high standards of care and critical thinking. We currently have permanent, fixed term, and casual hours available. Casual hours are negotiable and previous employment on Ward 6 South is preferred.

The Registered Nurse role is a well-supported role with ample professional development opportunities. You will be part of a large, skilled nursing team who provide tertiary level care for health consumers under the Cardiology and Cardiothoracic specialities.

About the Team/Service 

 We have a large team of 100 nursing staff who work closely with the Cardiology and Cardiothoracic services and associate multi-disciplinary team. You will be supported by a committed and focused nursing management team incorporating a Charge Nurse Manager, Associate Charge Nurse Managers, and Clinical Nurse Educators.

6 South is a 40 bed unit catering to the Wellington central region, providing care pre and post (but not limited to) acute and elective Angioplasty, Electrophysiology studies, Trans Aortic Valve Implantation, Open Heart surgery and Thoracic surgery. 

About you 

You will have:

• Registration with the Nursing Council of NZ (NCNZ) as a Registered Nurse
• A current practising certificate with the NCNZ
• A current work visa
• A passion and commitment to working in a Heart and Lung ward
• A strong equity lens when providing nursing care 
• Post graduate qualification (desirable)
