Service:   Wellington Blood and Cancer Service Clinical Trials Unit

Contract:  1.0  FTE  Monday to Friday 08:00 – 16:30 hours

About the Role

Are you interested in science, global changes in cancer treatments, and the future of cancer services? If so, this opportunity in our Wellington Blood and Cancer Centre Clinical Trials Unit will be of interest to you! We carry out Phase 1-3 trials and studies on behalf of our sponsors to provide patients with options for treatment to consider where they meet the selection criteria.

Our Clinical Trials Unit has a position available for a Registered Nurse. Our usual hours of work are 08:00 to 16:30, Monday to Friday, although at times there may be a need to work outside of these hours to meet project requirements.

About the Team/Service Location 

The Clinical Trials Unit is a multi-disciplinary environment, where you’ll be working with professionals across a wide range of services in the medical, pharmaceutical, imaging and laboratory areas, including Trial Sponsors and their representatives. You’ll receive training for each clinical trial, and there’s scope for learning new skills and gaining qualifications

About you

You’re a confident and experienced Registered Nurse, ready to take on the responsibility for new and ongoing clinical trials. You enjoy working independently as well as being part of a team, recognising areas of action and seizing  the opportunity to be proactive or resolve challenges along the way.

  • Recent nursing experience in a hospital setting; a background in Medical Oncology or Haematology would be desired but not a necessity 
  • Strong interest in clinical trials and research 
  • Strong interpersonal skills including being a team player
  • Organized, with a high attention to detail
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Confident and proficient in MS Office applications and database management
