Registered Nurse - Respiratory and Immunology
Location: Wellington Regional Hospital –District wide role
Contract: Permanent Part Time 0.5 FTE

About the Role
The role of RN includes working within a multidisciplinary team with Clinical Nurse Specialists, Doctors and Allied health. The role will involve shared responsibilities between both the respiratory and immunology services. This role has great variety and includes patient education and management relating to respiratory conditions including inpatients and outpatients. It also involves supporting patients with immune-related conditions. There is also opportunity to run sleep clinics and working alongside the sleep team to support patients across the district.
About the Team/Service Location
The Respiratory Medicine is part of the Sub-Speciality Medicine Group. The CCHV District Respiratory service provides secondary and tertiary care for patients with respiratory, immunology and sleep related breathing disorders. It provides outpatient services at Wellington, Hutt Valley, Kapiti, Wairarapa and Kenepuru hospitals and in patient services at Wellington Regional Hospital and Hutt Hospital. Outreach sleep clinics are provided at Hutt and Masterton hospitals and community sleep clinics are provided in Porirua region.
The service is fully supported by a full equipped pulmonary function laboratory with core and complex testing at Wellington, Kenepuru and Hutt Hospital.
Across the CCHV District, the team is made up of 13 Senior Medical Officers, 6 Clinical Nurse Specialists, two Registered Nurses, one Nurse Practitioner, one Respiratory Physiotherapist, 9 Respiratory Physiologists, 2 Respiratory Registrars, one Sleep Registrar Advanced Trainee posts, 1 basic Trainee post and a House Officer.
About you
The Respiratory and Immunology service is looking for an RN who would be well organized and able to multitask with the pressures and expectations of the role. They would be a real team player and be prepared to step up when needed to keep the department running smoothly. They would also be motivated and always looking for ways to improve and grow the service.
Essential Professional Qualifications / Accreditations / Registrations skills and experience:
- Registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ)
- A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) and scope appropriate to place of work
- Demonstrates an understanding of the significance of and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including how to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way in the nursing role
- A commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori
- A personal commitment to on-going learning and development including attainment/maintenance of PDRP
- Ability with information technology
