  • Contract: Permanent & fixed term, part time (32 hours per week) 

The MAPU is led and managed by medical services and is the acute admission point for most General medicine patients within the CCDHB region. MAPU provides a 24 hour a day, 7 days a week service.

General Medicine is a multidisciplinary service which is leading the way in acute medical models. We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, caring and innovative nurse who has a strong commitment to excellent nursing care and who thrives in a busy, high acuity environment.

General Medicine uses a Collaborative Nursing Model. The RN role is critical to the delivery of quality patient care and works in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team to provide timely assessment care planning and treatment for a range of medical and medical subspecialty patients.

You will be allocated to the area with greater need but your area of preference will be taken into consideration during the application process.

DUTIES 

  • Undertakes a comprehensive and accurate nursing assessment of clients using suitable assessment tools underpinned by evidence-based knowledge.
  • Contributes to care planning, involving clients, and demonstrates an understanding of clients’ rights to make informed decisions.
  • Provides nursing care according to plan and undertakes clinical practice procedures and skills in a competent and safe way. 
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing care seeking assistance and knowledge as necessary.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC with proven clinical expertise within acute and high-dependency nursing.
  • Motivated and flexible self-starter with the ability to work both in a team and autonomously
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the proven ability to engage people at all levels
