Security Orderly


Location: Wellington Regional Hospital, Kenepuru and in an emergency Hutt Hospital

Contract: Permanent, full-time, rostered/rotating

Salary: $28.40 hourly rate

About the Role 

The Orderly and Security Staff work hard to ensure the safe and timely movement of patients, property, and equipment throughout our hospitals. 

We work closely alongside our clinical staff to ensure patients are treated with empathy, respect and dignity throughout their hospital journey. While patient movement is our core focus we are also responsible for mitigating and reducing the incidences of violence and aggression in the hospital. Risk assessments and management plans are carried out to prevent incidences occurring or escalating.

In this dual role you will be expected to provide support and care for our patients, visitors and staff who visit the hospital as well as facilitating their security and safety.

About the Team/Service

The Security Orderly Team has over 90 staff who provide 24/7 cover for Te Whatu Ora, Capital Coast in both orderly and security functions.  The core work is patient movement but the safety and security of staff, patients and visitors alongside hospital assets is paramount

About you 

You will require excellent communication skills, be physically fit and able to think quickly and laterally.  Being able to be a respected member of a team as well as work unsupervised as required is essential.

You will also need:

  • Good written skills, empathy and high personal hygiene standards
  • Be able to remain composed and professional under pressure
  • Be able to respect people’s privacy
  • To ensure our patients, visitors and staff are treated with care and respect
