Senior CT Medical Imaging Technologist

Location: Wellington Regional Hospital or Kenepuru Hospital

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is dedicated to serving all New Zealanders. Through integration and collaboration, we’re building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whānau-centred care, and excellence.

About the Role

Salary: MECA Designated B Step $117,420 – $122,570

Capital Coast are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Medical Imaging Technologist (MIT) to join our CT team. This is to replace a critical senior CT MIT position, following the resignation of a key team member.

CT services are high-volume, time-sensitive, and essential for trauma, oncology, and emergency diagnostics. The Senior CT MIT plays a vital role in maintaining service throughput, ensuring protocol consistency, and delivering high-quality imaging. This role also provides leadership and mentorship to junior CT MITs, supporting their development and ensuring safe, efficient workflows.

This position is essential to sustaining the CT service’s performance and continuity. In a competitive workforce market, early recruitment is vital to avoid service disruption and uphold hospital standards.

About the Team/Service/Location

The CT MIT team at Capital & Coast is experienced, collaborative, and passionate about welcoming and mentoring the next generation of MITs. We work closely with colleagues across our district and nationally, fostering a supportive and innovative environment.

In October 2025, our CT service expanded with the installation of a cutting-edge Siemens photon-counting CT scanner at Kenepuru Hospital. In early 2026, both CT scanners at Wellington Hospital will be upgraded to Siemens systems, including a second photon-counting CT. This investment in advanced technology makes Capital & Coast an exciting place to work for those seeking to be part of a forward-thinking, well-equipped imaging service.

All CT MITs participate in shift and on-call rosters, contributing to a dynamic and responsive service. The variety of imaging and interventional procedures ensures no two days are the same, offering a stimulating and rewarding work environment.

Wellington is a vibrant city with a stunning natural landscape, world-renowned coffee culture, and a strong sense of community. Wellington is easily accessible by bike or hike from surrounding suburbs, supporting a healthy work-life balance.
