Senior Pharmacist – Aseptic Services

Contract: Fixed-term (9 months), Part Time (20 hours per week / 0.5FTE)

About the Role 

An opportunity exists for a motivated, committed and experienced team player to become part of our hospital pharmacy team.  We have a 9 month fixed term, part-time (0.5FTE, 20 hours per week) position for a Senior Aseptic Production Pharmacist. This role forms part of the Aseptic Production Unit team. 

This is a great opportunity to work in an expanding service and assisting in organisation of medication for Clinical Trials. 

This role is responsible for the aseptic compounding of mainly oncology / haematology pharmaceuticals in conjunction with a team of technicians and other pharmacists. It will assist the Team Leader in maintaining the high quality standards and procedures that are required for the facility, as well as acting as backup to the Team leader during periods leave and support them in the training and coordination of staff in the aseptic unit.

This is a fast-paced environment but a rewarding one for the right candidate.

About the Team/Service Location 

The pharmacy team is well respected by clinicians, nursing staff, and senior management across the organisation, and is constantly looking at ways to improve the service and care it delivers.  We provide a comprehensive pharmacy service throughout to the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley District, which includes a clinical service, dispensary & logistics service, and a quality & risk service. There is also an aseptic production service at Capital & Coast Hospitals (Wellington & Kenepuru). Through these services, we aim to improve the quality and effectiveness of prescribing, supply and distribution of medicines throughout the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley District.  Our teams value professional growth, and emphasizes clinical development and medicines optimization for our patients.

About you 

You will be a New Zealand registered pharmacist, or eligible to register in New Zealand. You will have prior experience in the manufacture and compounding of pharmaceuticals, preferably in an aseptic suite. Experience in clinical oncology / haematology would be preferable, but training can be given to the right candidate. You will be enthusiastic about providing a high quality service to users of the Aseptic Production unit, and be a great team player. You will also have the ability to communicate with a wide range of people and have a passion for quality improvement.
