Location: Kenepuru Hospital, but community based

About the Role
No one day is the same in this role which makes it exciting and refreshing. Serving our typically under 65 years of age disabled community to provide needs assessments wherever they chose to meet from South Wellington to Peka Peka in Kapiti and all in between. Essentially you will be completing Needs Assessments and then Service Co-ordination for people with Intellectual, ASD, sensory and physical disability as per criteria for Disability support services, but the role is much more encompassing than that. Relationships with contracted providers and many other key stakeholders.
About the Team/Service Location
The Capital Support team based at Kenepuru just outside the main hospital itself is a team that values collaboration, teamwork and manakitanga. You will be welcomed by the team that will ensure you are well supported always. We enjoy celebrating success through food and discussion, and sharing our diverse yet inter-twined culture that makes our team. Our team consists of such wide and varying experience, background and training, from Occupational Therapists, to Speech and language therapists, to social work, education, nursing, and to name so much more. You will learn a lot from each staff’s experience and skillset that will help you build and grow in your knowledge of such an all-encompassing sector.
About you
- A sound working knowledge and experience within the disability sector, a relevant qualification is desirable but not compulsory.
- Great interpersonal skills and an ability to form and maintain rapport and trust with clients/ whanau, contracted providers, MSD, Oranga Tamariki, Mental Health, Child Development Team, ACC, and many others.
- Strong resilience and ability to prioritise workload, recognise what is urgent and important, not so important and not urgent, and anywhere in between, whilst ensuring all workflow is achieved.
- Sound knowledge of basic computer skills and utilisation of applications.
- An absolute commitment to working within Enabling good lives principles, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, multi-culturalism, United Nations Convention of Rights for People with Disabilities, and current NZ Disability Strategy.
