Trainee Sonographer – Radiology and Women’s

Service: Radiology & Women’s Health
Contract: Fixed term, full time
Salary: $80,000 (Step 1) - $85,000 (Step 2) as per APEX and Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand Sonographers Collective Agreement 1 August 2024 to 30 November 2026
To note: All trainee sonographers with the successful completion of DMU1 (or equivalent) and one years’ employment as a trainee sonographer, shall move to step 2 of the trainee sonographers scale.
Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role
We are seeking candidates looking for a clinical training position in post-graduate Sonography training. This training position will be within Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley District (CCHV) in both the Radiology & Women’s Health Departments.
Trainee Sonographers may also be rotated through Kenepuru and Hutt Valley Hospitals.
Sonographer training is supported by both Radiology and Women’s Health Services with clinical tutelage and scanning supervision provided.
Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team
The Radiology service is multi-disciplinary, employing Radiologists, Nurses, Administration Support Staff and Medical Imaging Technologists, and is a training institution for Radiology Registrar’s, MITs and Sonographers. The services support tertiary Radiology imaging for the lower North Island and upper south island capturing a population of over one million people.
The multidisciplinary team in Women’s Health Service is dedicated to ensuring excellence in obstetric and gynecological care. This service provides an integrated mix of inpatient/outpatient/day patient and domiciliary services. Services are delivered in Wellington and Kenepuru hospitals, Kapiti Health Centre, out-reach clinics and domiciliary midwifery services. A dedicated Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Department sits within the Women’s Health service.
Moū – About you
Candidates must be eligible/enrolled for Post Graduate diploma in Health Sciences in Ultrasound (PGDipSc Ultrasound) through University of Auckland.
Candidates must be eligible for registration with the MRTB as a trainee sonographer.
