Treatment Supervisor – Radiation Therapist

ABOUT THE ROLE 

The Wellington Blood and Cancer Centre at Wellington Hospital is seeking an experienced Radiation Therapist (RT) for a full time, senior position as a Treatment Supervisor in our progressive centre.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and forward thinking RT to be an integral member of an award winning team dedicated to provision of high quality patient focused radiation treatment service at Capital and Coast District Health Board.

The Treatment Supervisor RT works in partnership with others to provide effective and efficient day to day co-ordination of a treatment area and supervision of staff rostered in this area. 

The department’s technology base is predominately Varian with two TrueBeams and one dual-energy Clinac (using Aria) in addition to HDR Brachytherapy and a superficial x-ray unit.

DUTIES 

  • Responsible for day to day operations in rostered area
  • Provide expert clinical advice
  • Contribute to service developments
  • Contribute to staff training
  • Participate in quality initiatives 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Registered or eligible for registration with the NZ Medical Radiation Technologists Board
  • Ability to coordinate a RT treatment service including managing patients, staff and other resources and equipment.
  • Ability to develop and build sustainable relationships with a diverse range of people within a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Ability to adapt work practices in response to a changing environment.
  • Clinical expertise in delivering radiation treatment
  • Have organisational and time management skills
