Unit Charge CT MIT

Location: Wellington Regional Hospital and Kenepuru Hospital

Contract: Permanent, Full Time (rostered and rotating)

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is dedicated to serving all New Zealanders. Through integration and collaboration, we’re building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whānau-centred care, and excellence.

About the Role

As the Unit Charge CT MIT, you will be the operational and clinical leader for our CT service - driving excellence, supporting a high performing team, and shaping the future direction of CT within Radiology.

In this key leadership role, you will:

  • Lead and inspire a skilled and dedicated CT MIT team
  • Provide day to day operational oversight and ensure smooth service delivery
  • Work closely with Radiologists, Radiology Registrars, administrators, and wider Radiology teams
  • Champion quality, patient experience, and continuous improvement
  • Spearhead development of the CT service—identifying opportunities, solving challenges, and ensuring we keep moving forward

You’ll also be an integral part of the Radiology Management Team, working alongside the Operations Manager and other Unit Charges. We meet regularly, collaborate closely, and support one another as a unified leadership group. Your voice, expertise, and initiative will be valued from day one.

We’re looking for someone who is not only confident in CT clinical practice, but who brings strong leadership capability, a proactive mindset, and the drive to lead service development. If you are passionate about leading people, improving systems, and influencing meaningful change, we would love to hear from you.

About the Team/Service Location

Our CT service operates across both Wellington Regional Hospital and Kenepuru Community Hospital, providing high quality imaging for a busy tertiary centre and a diverse regional population.

At Kenepuru, you’ll lead a close knit, experienced CT team with a strong community focus and a newly established CTCA service following the installation of a Siemens photon counting CT in October 2025.

At Wellington Regional Hospital, the CT service is undergoing significant growth and redevelopment. We have two CT replacements underway and are actively contributing to the Front of Whare redevelopment project, which includes a new satellite Radiology department within the redesigned Emergency Department - and a fourth CT scanner. You will play a key leadership role in shaping workflow, service models, and operational readiness for this major expansion.

Our CT workload is dynamic and varied. As a busy tertiary hospital, we provide:

  • Complex imaging for high acuity patients
  • Specialist and interventional CT procedures
  • 24/7 CT service, supporting emergency, inpatient, and acute transfer pathways
  • Imaging for patients across the Central Region and into the Upper South Island, making us a crucial regional hub

This is a fast paced, high performing environment with a strong multidisciplinary team and a clear commitment to service improvement. You’ll be joining a service with major investment, exciting growth, and real opportunities to influence how CT supports patient care now and into the future.

About you

  • Registered MIT with a current APC and significant experience in CT practice, including advanced/complex imaging and procedures.
  • Proven leadership or senior-level experience in a CT or Radiology setting, with the ability to lead, mentor, and develop a high performing team.
  • Strong operational capability, including workflow coordination, service delivery management, and problem solving in a fast paced clinical environment.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills, with experience working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to quality, patient safety, continuous improvement, and culturally safe practice, including understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
