About the Team

Kenepuru Accident and Medical Clinic (KAMC) is one of the only Urgent Care Clinics within Health New Zealand| Te Whatu Ora.  We operate 24/7, 365 days per year and are the only Urgent Care clinic to do so in the Greater Wellington area.

The clinic supports the northern corridor of the Capital Coast catchment area, in particular the Porirua community.  We are passionate about serving the local community and assisting with avoiding ED presentations where clinically appropriate and providing after hours medical care where needed.  We see over 35,000 patients per year with a wide range of ages, clinical presentations and acuity.

KAMC is an accredited training facility for the NZ College of Urgent Care.  KAMC currently has a medical roster that is a mixture of SMOs, contractors, RMOs and a collective contract with Porirua GPs who contribute to the roster.  The department is has grown its SMO workforce over recent years, enabling the team to support two trainees on their training program.

Trainees are encouraged and supported to attend relevant conferences and courses, and leave is provided for this purpose. Training costs associated with meeting the NZCUC training requirements are met by the employer.  We also provide a range of in house simulation and training, including the option for supernumerary shifts with other departments to develop clinical skills and knowledge.
