Violence Reduction Specialist


Location: Capital Coast, Hutt Valley & Wairarapa District

Contract: Permanent, full-time

About the Role 

This position will be responsible for providing specialist safety and de-escalation training to predominantly clinical staff across the Capital Coast, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa District.  The Violence Reduction Specialists will be aligned with the national Protective Security Service to implement Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training aimed at reducing incidences of violence and aggression towards staff.

The successful applicants will be responsible for:

  • Identifying training gaps
  • Developing learning objectives
  • Delivering the training course
  • Providing evaluations and feedback. 

Training in CPI Advanced and Emergency trainer will be provided if required. This role sits within the team based at Wellington Hospital however, travel is required throughout the region. The full salary range for this position is $110,000 - $130,000

About the Team

This role will be situated in the Security Orderly team at Capital & Coast Wellington but will see you work closely with other departments across the hospitals to provide training and education to clinical staff. The Security team is part of the wider Non-Clinical Support and Delivery service that provides a range of non-clinical support services across the District.

You will be joining a vibrant team who are passionate about facilitating a safe hospital environment. We are recruiting for two specialists, so you will be working closely alongside each other to deliver training programmes.

About you 

Skills and experience we are looking for:

  • A qualification or relevant experience in delivering training programmes.
  • CPI qualification, knowledge and or the willingness to commit to becoming a certified trainer.
  • 3 years clinical experience or experience in a safety services, crime prevention or CPI Safety Intervention Trainer role
  • Professional approach with excellent time management, good communication and training delivery skills.     
  • Able to work well in a team environment and individually.
